All flights were a pleasure to fly. Lihue continues to have bad weather!!!!. One flight there was near zero vis.

FP flights are tough in bad weather too. Still looking for charts to the airports.

Will fly less in November due to a number of meetings away from home.

Visiting Kona in November. Hope to take some more pics for the page.

HI05 - PHNL-PHTO Honolulu to Hilo - flown in HIA Boeing 757 HI75BO. Approximate time enroute - 45 minutes. 190 miles. My first mission went pretty well except for a rudder malfunction on final approach at 1500'. (I was flying with the reliability factor set to 1 (default) not realizing that Austin was having troubles with his reliability factor not being reliable). Our flight crew (myself and First Officer Otto Pilot (ala "Airplane") was able to land safely at Hilo without the passengers ever realizing we were REAL busy up front! 1 segment.

HI35 - PHOG-PHNL Kahului to Honolulu - flown in HIA Boeing 767 N602UA. Approximate time enroute - 33 minutes. 89 miles. No problems. The flight was a little bumpy the entire way, but it presented no problems and there were no complaints. 1 segment.

HI304 - KJFK-KPIT New York to Pittsburg - flown in HIA Boeing 737 HI73BO. Approximate time enroute - 57 minutes. 293 miles. A BEAUTIFUL day! Smooth flight, unlimited visibility, no rowdy passengers and cute flight attendants! 1 segment.

Total - 3 segments. Total time - 2 hours 25 minutes.

Ready for additional assignments.

Bruce, 2 hours 25 minutes, Problems:Rudder malfunction on HI05. Aircraft was written up and taken off line for maintenance to inspect and repair., Thanks for letting me be a part of your airline!, Submit

HI632 - KMIA-MKJP Miami International to Norman Manley International (Kingston, Jamaica) Took off 2000 hours, landed 2120 hours. 514 NM. This is an incredibly difficult landing at night in Jamaica. Glad the weather was clear! Don't trust your altimeter unless you're in an aircraft that the altimeter setting can be set. Otherwise, you'll end up in the drink! Also, I made the VOR/DME Approach to runway 12 and 117 degrees did not line up with the runway worth a darn. However, we did manage to put the plane on terra firma. 1 segment., 1 hour 20 minutes, Problems:, Submit

HI400 KMIA-KRSW (Miami to Fort Myers) 37 minutes Flown in EMB120 91 miles 1 segment

HI401 KRSW-KMIA (Fort Myers to Miami) 51 minutes Flown in EMB120 91 miles (longer flight due to thunderstorm rerouting. I can't have my passengers urping in my (our) aircraft!) 1 segment

HI402 KMIA-KMCO (Miami to Orlando) 51 minutes Flown in B737 168 miles 1 segment

HI403 KMCO-KMIA (Orlando to Miami) 39 minutes Flown in B737 170 miles 1 segment

HI406 KMIA-KTPA (Miami to Tampa) 42 minutes Flown in B737 179 miles 1 segment

HI407 KTPA-KMIA (Tampa to Miami) 44 minutes Flown in B737 179 miles 1 segment

HI410 KMIA-KMTH-KEYW (Miami to Marathon to Key West) 67 minutes Flown in ATR (squirrelly plane!) 108 miles 1 segment

HI411 KEYW-KMTH-KMIA (Key West to Marathon to Miami) 48 minutes Flown in ATR 108 miles 1 segment

HI412 KMIA-KDAB (Miami to Daytona Beach) 49 minutes Flown in A320 208 miles 1 segment

HI413 KDAB-KMIA (Daytona Beach to Miami) 48 minutes Flown in A320 208 miles 1 segment

HI622 KMIA-MYNN (Miami to Nassau, Bahamas) 44 minutes Flown in A320 162 miles 1 segment

HI623 MYNN-KMIA (Nassau, Bahamas to Miami) 38 minutes Flown in A320 162 miles 1 segment

HI633 MKJP-KMIA (Kingston, Jamaica to Miami) 83 minutes Flown in B737 509 miles 1 segment

Question - It says a 2 leg flight counts as only 1 segment. Is Miami, Marathon, Key West a 1 segment flight then? What would constitute a 2 or more segment flight?

Anyway, I have it recorded as 13 segments total (1 segment for each flight)

Total - 10 hours, 41 minutes

No problems to report

Fly safe!

Flight report for September 1999

HI 40 Honolulu Hana Dash-8 35 min 135 NM. IFR flight via airways V2-21, then VFR descent and turn around Maui east coast, and perfect landing. I flew the series 100 of this plane, slow but very easy to fly and to land.

HI 50 Honolulu Molokai ATR-42 16 min 51 NM. Always a nice flight.

HI 102 Honolulu Princeville Dash-8 29 min 109 NM. Nice flight, hairy landing on the small airport. I need some practice, will try again.

HI 185 Honolulu tour of the island Honolulu Dash-8 23 min 93 NM. Sight-seeing at 3000ft, 250KIAS.

HI 189 Lihue Princeville Na Pali coast Waimea canyon Lihue Dash-8 18 min 66 NM. 3000ft until Na Pali, then climb to 6000 to overfly Waimea canyon. X-Plane's orignal env files are flattened, so it is not easy to find the canyon. I turned south 11NM before Barking Sands, but if someone wants to edit some elevations here and there it could be very appreciated!

HI651 Vienna Munich Milan B757 1h 22 min 503 NM. Very nice IFR flight, I really enjoyed it with my original Jepp charts. The evening was so fine (real weather), that, coming from Zurich on airway N850, I performed a VFR landing on runway 17L.

HI657 Rome Milan A340 50 min 303 NM. Excellent flight, with EarCandy ATC sounds.

HI 715 Bora Bora Maupiti ATR-42 16 min 48 NM. Flight included sight-seeng tours around Bora Bora and Maupiti.

HI 722 Huahine Raiatea Bora Bora. Dash-8 27 min 82NM. The first segment is one of the easiest flights on the world: when you rectract your gear after take-off, I're already aligned for the approach! But I was so distracted by the beauty of the islands, that I nearly missed the runway at Raiatea. So, for the second segment, I took some time for a fly around Raiatea and a panoramic overfly of Tahaa and it's deep bays, before the final, and correct this time, approach and landing at Bora Bora.

HI 723 Bora Bora Tahaa DHC-2 Beaver 16 min 27 NM. Landing in Hanamee bay, wonderful.

HI 727 Bora Bora - Rangiroa Dash-8 52 min 255NM. Fly over Tikehau.

HI 729 Tahiti Rangiroa Tikehau Mataiva Dash-8 54 min 277 NM. Fascinating flights in the remotest atolls. Short runways! I shouldn't use the Dash-8, it's certified for a 4250ft runway for landing, while Tikehau and Mataiva are 3937! But the stall speed is so low, 82KIAS, and could land anyway. Next time I will use a Cessna or an amphibian, or I will lose my flying license.

HI ? Tikehau Makatea. Island Beaver 30 min 45 NM. Flight replica of the 6 days/ 7 nights film. Take off from Tikehau NTGC, take a heading of 180 and after 40NM you're right at Makatea! Plane used is modeled by canadian artist Tim Hill to exactly reproduce the Beaver sea.plane, in the colors of the plane used in the film. Very romantic flight for honeymooners. Tahnk you Tim.

Total time flown: 7 hours 27 min

Total flights: 13; legs: 19

Problems none.

Aircraft EMB, fuel used 2278 lbs, distance travelled 296 miles

No problems. Used different aircraft for return journey because repairs needed to original.

FLIGHT HI404 MIAMI INTERNATIONAL (KMIA) TO WEST PALM BEACH (KPBI)

Take off 1900 and at the ramp at Palm Beach at 1947

Total time 47 minutes

Aircraft A320, fuel used 2771 lbs, distance 54 miles

Problem was I lost the HSI with speed, height, direction and ILS near Palm Beach. Flew with rudder and ATC instructions and landed manually although a little late. Phew!

FLIGHT HI405 WEST PALM BEACH (KPBI) TO MIAMI INTERNATIONAL (KMIA)

Take off from Palm Beach at 2000 and landed at Miami at 2023

Total time to landing 23 minutes

Aircraft A320, fuel used 2278 lbs, distance 54 miles

Lost nose gear so had a difficult landing. Stopped at end of runway but unable to steer, so aircraft had to be towed off the runway. This is why the time is shorter than normal, no taxiing in time taken.

HI14 -Honolulu to Kona - HI Boeing 737. Approximate time enroute - 30 minutes. It was my first flight on HIA,. It was very easy. Our flight crew my First Officer and I, were intercepted by a very heavy thunderstorm some minutes later after the departure from Honolulu. Finally we could escape from the storm, but we have to change our route._____________________________________________________________________________________________________

HI80. Honolulu to Lihue.HI 757 Approximate time enroute was about 19 min. The flight was easy, but in the approach we enter in overcast clouds at 1700' with a visibility of 10. It was very hard to land land because there was wind share alert and a very low visibility. But we could land and the passengers were succes.

HI303. Washington to New York.HI 737 Approximate time enroute- 1.1 hours. An espectacular flight, normal, sky clear, visibility 3., temperature 97 F., winds light and variable. I only have problems on my finall approach with the slats, which failed, but I was able to land, nervous, but I landed. My First Officer helped me up to the touch.

1 hour 50 min, Problems: HI303 SBRAKES failed, the aircraft was very fast, at least 190 KT. I had to put off the airplane to loose speed, but I was able to land safely in ILS., Submit
