HI # 8 -- Tokyo to PHNL. PS1. I took the plane from Captain Silva, climbed
out above the weather and settled in for the 7 hr + ride. The plane as
configured by Captain Silva is amazing. My only EICAS message the whole
trip was APU 1 Bleed loss. I still can't figure out what that meant.
Landing was emotional on 08 considering it was the end of the Around the
Globe express. Flight time was 7 hours 33 minutes. Cruise was 37,000 with
a step to 39,000. Crosswinds on landing were enough to keep me interested
-- the component was 15 kts!
HI # 680 and 681. With out and back service from Munich to Frankfort in the
A320 with X-plane. This flight was made using full charts. Visibility was
poor -- serious IFR -- but winds were calm. Flight times were 35 minutes
and 41 minutes respectively. Fuel figures were 512 and 543. Cruise alts
were 15K and 16K
Hi #682 and 683. Out and back service to Amsterdam from our Munich hub.
Okay, so I now know what SIDS and STARS I can get from Munchen control , and
which ones never to ask for. Weather for both flights was clear/scattered -
which in my notes prompted "this x-plane scenery stinks" guess Bruno and
friends have spoiled me over the alps. Flight times were 1hr 14 and 1 hr
06. Fuel was 1144 and 1230. I cruised at 30 and 31 K.
Hi # 684 and 685. Service to Brussels and back from the hub in Munich. More
boring scenery, but this time a cloud layer at 7000 meant I only had to see
it on departure and approach. The x-plane airport for Brussels stinks
considering what a nice airport it is in real life -- best chocolate shops
in any airport in the world. Weather in Brussels was light rain, nothing to
worry about in the A-320 -- the easiest plane to fly. My flight time were
1:02 and 1:00 respectively. I flew a left standard traffic for Brussels
because I didn't have chart.
Hi #686 and 687 with hub service to Copenhagen. Another example of scenery
just waiting to happen. The weather was horrible in Munich, okay in
Denmark. The highlight of the flight was getting down to 100 above DH for
Munchen on the return. Ah, the beauty of the autopilot. I tried to do what
real pilots do -- I stared only at the gauges and looked up only when I was
at DH -- according to the pilots I know - one pilot just stares at the
panel, the other stares out the window. The pilot on panel never looks up
until the other pilot tells him. I tried this the best I could. When I
looked up -- there was the runway. Flight times were 1:23 and 1:14.
HI # 770 -- a PS1 flight from Hong Kong to to Sydney to Auckland. Flight
time to Sydney was 8:33 with a hold past the outer marker for traffic. I
flew the final "manual" from 2000 agl as my confidence in PS 1 grows. This
was also the first time I ever flew two legs at once, and it was fun to
shutdown partially, and wait for the new pax to board. Flight to Auckland
was very bumpy at all FL's. Autoland 3 this time to see how much better the
autopilot was than me at landing -- answer -- better. Time to Auckland was
2 hrs 30 minutes
Hi # 771 -- A ps1 flight from Auckland to Sydney to Hong Kong. Someone must
have misjudged fuel on me because I had more than enough and had to land
pretty fast at Sydney -- 158 kts full flaps. This was the first PS 1 flight
I've ever flown with great weather. Made me wish I had scenery to look at.
Sydney to Auckland took 2:42 and to Hong Kong took 8:55.
Hi #772 and 773 -- ps 1 flights from Hong Kong to Singapore. The weather
was ovc at 3000 and the approach to Hong Kong was crazy with ATC sending me
halfway to America! Singapore, by comparison, was a direct as filed
aprroach, my first ever in ATC mode. I show flight times of 3:21 minutes
and 3:33.
Totals for June; Legs 15. Time 38 hrs 32 minutes.

Flight report for June 2000
HI 002 San Francisco Chicago PS1.3 World Tour 747-400. Second leg of the
world tour: 1648NM 3 hours 48 min. Nice (real) weather. Fantasy SID (I don't
have charts), then airways J82 J42 J16, then landed on runway 14R after JVL4
approach.
HI 004 London Milan PS1.3 World Tour 747-400 1 hour 28 minutes, 594 NM. Fast
and comfortable flight, along airways B3 and A41, in a quiet, rainy Sunday
morning. Cruise at FL 390, 34100lbs fuel burned. Landing on runway 35L after
a standard approach via SRN VOR and NOV NDB, then parking in front of the
new Malpensa 2000 terminal.
HI 041 Hana Molokai Honolulu Dash-8 34 minutes 122 NM. Lovely flight between
the islands, VFR to Molokai and IFR to Honolulu, shining in its lights at
dusk. A great view for captain and passengers.
HI 057 Kalaupapa Molokai Honolulu Dash-8 34 min, 118 NM. After the short
jump to Molokai, ATC informed me of long holdings over Honolulu for heavy
traffic. As HI ops office, and the passengers agreed, I decided to "kill the
time" doing a sight-seeing round tour of Oahu. After this, I landed on
schedule on runway 08L without any trouble.
HI 063 Honolulu Hilo Airbus A-320. 46 minutes, 237 NM. Fast IFR route along
V2 and V16, then elaborate arc approach to Hilo. Strong winds, with many
bumps for the passengers.
HI 064 Hilo Honolulu Airbus A-320. 40 min 231 NM. Take-off from runway 03,
Paris Two departure, cruise on airway V21 then followed ATC instructions for
landing on rwy 04R. Lighter winds than yesterday.
HI 071 Honolulu Lanai Dash-8 24 minutes, 83 NM. IFR training: cruise along
airway V2, then DME-arc approach to Lanai. This is a difficult procedure,
that has to be rehearsed often to be mastered. The Dash-8 is stable and easy
to fly, and is ideal for this training.
HI 651 Vienna Munich Milan Airbus A-330 1 hour 25 min, 499 NM. Nice flight
of this big heavy, lovely painted in HI colours by Sergio: the plane is
powerful, fast and handles very realistically. Wonderful crossing of the
Alps at sunset!
HI 657 Rome Milan Airbus A-340 53 min 302 NM. Smooth IFR flight, excellent
plane.
HI 707 Bora Bora Maupiti, Turbo Beaver 22 min 41 NM. I used this excellent
plane by Tim Hill, the turboprop version of the famous Beaver "bush-plane".
This plane is more powerful and faster than the piston-engines original
Beaver. I took off from Bora Bora and levelled at 1000ft for a sight-seeing
tour of the island, then climbed to 3000ft for cruising, then landed at
Maupiti to leave some material. But I immediately took-off again, to land in
the blue lagoon so the passenger could plunge in the water directly from the
Beaver's floats.
HI 708 Maupiti Bora Bora, Turbo-Beaver, 17 min 38 NM. This time I took the
passengers to the wonderful atoll of Tupai, where they enjoyed a barbecue
offered by the airline. I landed in the atoll again, since the small Tupai
airport is not available for X-Plane. It is so small that I was not able to
place it in the scenery! Then we took-off again for the short leg (11 NM)
that took all back to their hotels in Bora Bora. This service is an
exclusive of Hawaiian International, and is very appreciated by our clients.
HI 709 Bora Bora Raiatea Huahine Dash-8, 16 minutes, 56 NM. Cruise at 3000ft
for sight-seeing.
HI 710 Huahine Raiatea Bora Bora, Dash-8, 17 minutes, 52 NM. Lovely linking
of dream islands.

HI103 Cancelled HI01 Hanalei Princeville - PHNL Honolulu Dash-8 Q100
, #of Hours: 8hours 6minutes, Problems:
A great flight in the biginning with no problems. Took off after timetable at 20.00 on runway 8
left at Honolulu International. It was dark outside and I used HUD all the flight so I could see
all mountains so I not had to crash into them. Climbing 1000 feet per minute up to 5000 feet. I
used GPS the whole flight. After 25 minutes over the ocean between Oahu and Kaui
something terrible happend. I lost controll over the plane. The plane turned right (see the
maps I sended to you) and I couldn't turn it to the left again. The only thing I could do was to
climb and descend with the autopilot. Both of the engines worked. I tried to turn off the left
engine so I get more power from the right side but that doesn't helped. I tried to turn off both
enginges but the plane turned more right now. Then I restart the engines and the plane
planed down. I still couldn't turn manual or with HDGSEL/GPS so I prepared for an emergency
landing in the ocean. I reduce the speed from 180 to 90 with full flaps. The plane started now
to turn left again so I decided to land as quick as possible. The plane touch down in the ocean
and and jumped upp due a big wave. The it turned down again and this time it didn't jumped
upp. The problem after the landing was that it was hard to stop the plane. The flight took 33
minutes to the emergency landing. The weather was 2500 scattered visability 10, wind was
050 at 14 knots. Barometric ressure 3003. Temperature 77 dewpoint 66. I had fuel for about
one hour more but I wanted to land when I not was too far away from Lihue., Submit
