  Use PS1 and Xplane to fly some of these flights. PS1 is a very nice sim albeit very coplicated to operate. A purely IFR simulator.

Windshear continues to be a problem this month. Some landing in Kahului were made difficult due to this problem. A windshear situation arose in Kanakukaki which made me abort landing but passengers did fine after the go around.

Over all a productie month for me on the simulator.

here is my flight report for the first month of the year. As always, I had a lot of fun and relax.

HI 04 London Milan B747-300 1 hour 27 min, 585 NM. My leg of the luxury-class KKE flight around the world has been flown in this fine Jumbo, with

conventional cockpit. I followed the whole route by needle and timer.

 

HI 56 Honolulu Molokai Kalaupapa ATR-42 20 min 61 NM. Very nice VFR flight in the islands. I love it. The short jump from Molokai to Kalaupapa is a

very useful trainig.

 

HI 57 Kalaupapa Molokai Honolulu ATR-42 21 min 62 NM. IFR flight to HNL and approach to rwy 26L, smooth landing.

 

HI 94 Lihue Kona A-320 40 min 241 NM. Excellent IFR flying of the longest route in Hawaii, with the super A-320

 

HI 95 Lihue Kona A-320 35 min 241 NM. Nice and fast flight back

 

HI 108 Honolulu Princeville Dash-8 30 min, 107NM. VFR flight from runway 04L, then Wheeler, Dillingham climbing to 10000ft, cruise, descent and

visual landing on the very narrow runway at Princeville.

 

HI 111c Honolulu Kona 747-400 29 min 150 NM. PS1 test flight

 

HI 112c Kona Honolulu 747-400 35 min 172 NM. PS1 test flight

 

HI 204 Honolulu Tahiti 747-400 PS1, 4 hours 47 min 2436 NM.

 

HI 204c Honolulu Christmas Island B747-300 2 h 37 min 1195 NM. After a long "compass and clock" navigation across the ocean, I arrived over Xmas

island, just to discover that it is not existing in X-Plane world! APXM is somewhere else, around Australia.

 

HI 651 Wien Munich Milan A320 1 h 22 min, 502 NM. Nice IFR flight across the familiar european skies

 

Hi 652 Milan Geneva Paris A320 1h 8 min 240 NM. Nice crossing of the Alps at 18000ft, landing at Geneva thne IFR to Paris.

 

HI 721 Bora Bora Rangiroa Saab-2000 47 min 255 NM. Fast flight in this excellent twin-turboprop (called "the small Concorde by Swissair!). Cruise was

at FL 210, at 400+KTAS.

 

HI 719 Bora Bora Tahaa DHC-6 Twin-Otter 11 min 24 NM.

 

HI 720 Tahaa Bora Bora DHC-6 Twin-Otter 14 min 31 NM. This is life! And flying.

 

HI 724 Mataiva Tikehau Tangiroa Tahiti Dash-8 / Lear Jet 31A 1 h 68 min 278. I flew the faster Lear to test it, but the result has been rather

disappointing: very unstable, and with poor instrumentation.

Problems: I was unable to fly #184 (Lanai panoramic over fly) because of intrinsic errors in X-Plane. I was too lazy to correct it and proceeded with the

Lost GPS early in flight, then lost flaps later. Due to bad ILS

information had to abort first landing and go round again manually. On

final approach lost oil pressure in one engine. A flight to be

remembered!
